Dr. Victoria Gomez
Dr. Victoria Gomez grew up locally right here in Denver! Having always wanted to become a veterinarian, she attended veterinary school at Colorado State University, and graduated in 1997. She worked at an emergency clinic in Lakewood, CO for a number of years before deciding to open ACCESS in 1999. Dr. Gomez lives with her family, which consists of her husband and her two children, Gracie and Luke. They also have 5 chihuahuas, 3 horses, and all animals that live at ACCESS. When not attending to her family or veterinary practice, Dr. Gomez enjoys travel, horses, and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. David Burnett
Dr. David Burnett was born here in Denver and moved to Texas as a child with his family. He was raised with dogs, cats, and birds and knew from an early age that he wanted to work with animals. Dr. Burnett attended Texas A&M University, graduating from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. He developed a passion for Emergency and Critical Care Medicine during an externship at an emergency clinic in Houston during his fourth year of vet school, and has pursued that career path ever since. He moved back to Colorado ten years ago, and currently lives with his two beautiful daughters, Alex and Amanda, and a Puggle named Ella.
Dr. Desiree English
Dr. Desiree English was born and raised right here in Denver. Passionate about animals from a young age, she attended CU Boulder for her undergraduate studies, and spent a few years as a zookeeper at the Denver Zoo. She attended veterinary school at Colorado State University, graduating in 2004. Following graduation, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she practiced for 7 years, working with small animals and exotics. While in Las Vegas, Dr. English had the opportunity to work in an animal ER, and she became hooked on emergency medicine. She joined the ACCESS staff in 2011 after relocating back to Colorado with her family. She is blessed to share her life with her husband, two young sons, and two cats. When she is not working the night shift at ACCESS, her favorite activities are traveling, crafting and sewing, reading, and most of all being a Mom.
Dr. Heather Israel
Dr. Heather Israel was born and raised in Michigan. In search of a sunnier habitat, she went to college at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. After majoring in zoology, working in a veterinary clinic, and volunteering for a few dog rescue organizations, she decided to attend veterinary school at Michigan State University. While in veterinary school, she developed a special interest in emergency medicine and critical care. She has lived in Denver and has practiced at ACCESS since the summer of 2008. She lives with her husband, who is also a veterinarian and practices in East Denver, along with their six rescued animals. In her free time, Dr. Israel enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Katie Jones
Dr. Jones grew up on the beaches of sunny Florida. She received her B.S. in Equine Science from Colorado State University. After college, she was a ski bum in Jackson, Wyoming for two years before going back to school at the University of Wyoming for pre-vet studies. She moved back to Colorado in 2000 to attend CSU where she completed her veterinary degree in 2005. After vet school, she worked as an associate at a busy mixed animal practice in Flagstaff, Arizona and later owned a house call practice in Denver before joining ACCESS in 2009. Outside of work, Dr. Jones enjoys hiking, camping, gardening and travel. She shares her life with 1 dog, 2 cats, 4 chickens, and 2 horses.
ACCESS Veterinary Technicians
Annette has been a veterinary technician for over 14 years. She has been with ACCESS for 6 years now. She loves emergency medicine and surgery the most. Annette is currently back in school, working towards a degree as a veterinarian. We are sure she will succeed in this, and will be as successful, caring, and compassionate towards animals as a vet, as she is as a technician. Annette lives with her young son Eric and 2 dogs, Wolf and Dizzy. When Annette is not at work, she enjoys hiking, camping, spending time with family, and travel.
Pamela was born in Houston, TX, and moved to Boulder, CO at the young age of 2. Her family had a large variety of animals, which enabled Pamela to develop a special fondness for them. She graduated from Bel-Rea in 2003 and has been with us since then, and has become our Clinic and Technician Manager. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, and 2 cats, Colin and Anya.
Liliana was raised in Costa Rica. She is actually a veterinarian in Costa Rica, but is working as a technician in the United States until she can become licensed as a veterinarian in this country. She joined the ACCESS family in 2011, and is a valuable asset to us. In Liliana’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, her puppy Dori, travelling, and skiing.
Mark was raised in Colorado. After many years in construction, he decided to make a career change, and attended Bel-Rea. He graduated in 2011, and was hired at ACCESS the same day. In his spare time, Mark enjoys hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his family.
Brittany graduated from Bel-Rea in 2008 and has been with ACCESS since 2009. She loves learning, and is currently enrolled at Metro State University, where she is working on a double major in Chemistry and Biology. She hopes one day to work as a veterinarian in either emergency medicine or parasitology. At home, Brittany has a German Shepherd, Buster, who is the love of her life. When she is not at work or in school, she enjoys volunteering and photography.
Marisa recently joined the ACCESS team as a technician assistant intern. We liked her so much, we kept her! She has a natural curiosity that keeps her learning, and she has graduated from the Community College of Denver as a veterinary technician. She hopes to continue her work in emergency medicine. When Marisa is not working or going to school, she enjoys spending time with her family and boating.
Shannon grew up on a farm in Stillwater, Minnesota, just outside of the twin cities. She has worked with animals her entire life, but joined the Veterinary field in March 1995. Shannon earned her Associates of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology at the Medical Institute of Minnesota/Argasy University. Shannon moved to Colorado in June of 2002 and started working at ACCESS shortly after. Although she spends most of her time working, she loves to hunt, fish, travel and exercise in her free time.
Aubry Rosenberg recently moved to Colorado after 22 years in Kansas. She has been working emergency veterinary medicine as a doctor’s assistant for ten years. She truly loves the ER and has special interests in neonatal care, wound management, and pharmacology. At home, Aubry enjoys spending time with her family and drawing and playing with her two dogs, one cat, and one turtle.
